If your GF is letting you use her CD's, you don't own the game. As for disabiling compatibility mode, just right click on the games icon and you will see the tab.

Best bet is to do a system restore. Go to start, all programs, then to accessories, then to system tools and choose system restore. Then just pick a day before it disappeared and then let it do it's thing and you should have it back. Good Luck

Tim, I have to agree with Wilhelmus, removing Direct X can mess up your computer. Your best bet is to try and rerun the program and when it asks if you want to install Direct X go ahead and let it install. You could also try and partition your harddrive so that way you can run both Win XP and Win 98. There are alot of threads in here on the proper way to do that if you want to try it. Just use the search feature Philipp has it set up real nice to find things.

What that is asking is for the version of Win that the game says it is designed for. So if the game is a Win95 then check the Win 95 box. This game seems to have alot of problems with XP. You might also want to google the game and see if you can find other sites that are listing the same problems. Good Luck

You shouldn't have to do that but it is best to cover all bases. So give that a shot and see if that helps. You might also want to go ahead and install the game and when it asks you if you want to install Direct X, go ahead and do it and see if that fixes the problem for you. Good Luck

Twill, since the game is designed for Win 95/98, have you tried using the compatibility mode? To do so you will need to right click on the programs icon, then click on properties, then click on the compatibility tab and set it up. If that doesn't do the trick post back and someone else may have more ideas for you. Good Luck

Grab a copy of the newest Direct X and upgrade, is what I would do.

496 is a bit small for XP, if you can add more I would bump it up to 1 gig. I've read about 10 sites now with the same problem you are having and they all say it has to do with a bad disk, wether it be a copy or the original that has somehow become scratched. They all suggest contacting microsoft for a new disk. Sorry I didn't have better news for you. Good Luck

We do it because we want to help people. Alot you people seem to think that you deserve help because you graced us with your appearance by posting in this forum. I know you asked for help in the beginning but now you are demanding help and that won't get you squat. Personally when people start demanding help I just ignore them. There are alot of people wanting help besides you and when alot of people want help it moves the postings along, ie your posting may be on the screen when you post it but 11 posts later and it is off the top listings. It happens alot so deal with it. Your attitude will get you nowhere.

You should be able to run it using the compatibility feature in Win XP.

That is just a review done by that person, you can't actually download that game. If you google it you might be able to find the exe that you need or you may need to go out and buy it.

Are you using Win XP? if so are you looking to the top of your browser window to see a light yellow band that says, "To help protect your security IE has blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options" If you right click on that bar it will allow you to download the file that you want.

Sounds like you still have the trojan or you picked up another one. Did you go to A Squared and download and run their program yet? Since the info at Symantec list's nearly every anti-virus maker that can cause the trojan to restart your computer, including norton. Go here http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml and run their online scan and see what it comes up with and then post the results back in this posting and then we can go from there. Also do as mainman suggests and grab and run hijack this. It can't hurt to cover all bases.
