Alright folks, I used tweakui & disabled the CTR+ALT+DEL screen & viola, no more hassle. Now all I have to do is load "Lock WorkStation" on startup & it's finished, thanks folks.
-
@Four and Twenty: That's or workstation OS's, this is a server OS. Even if you use that the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen is still there. Thanks anyways though.
@Tomay: I don't want to convert it over to a workstation, however, it does show how to disable that annoying CTRL+ALT+DEL prompt which is what I am looking to accomplish. Thanks.

Actually, I would like to have the thing login, then lock the computer; This way no one can do aything from the server itself. Now I already know how to get the "Lock WorkStation" to appear on startup, I do not know how to get the DataCenter Server OS to auto-login.
Thanks for your time people.

There is no "Users & Passwords" type option in the Control Panel with Win2k DataCenter Server & it makes it come to this screen where I have to hit CTRL+ALT+DEL before I even login - I don't want to deal with any of that. The server normally doesn't even have a monitor hooked up to it, I want to be able to turn the thing on & that's it - everyone can get to the servers resources.
Any suggestions?

Well I tried it & I have to say I much prefer the nVidia. Not only do they go at about the same speed, the nVidia has much better graphic detail than the ATI. I appreciate the feedback though fellas, thanks.
-
The AGP is an nVidia TNT2 32mb & the PCI is a ATI Radeon 7000 series.
What I am going for here is the ability to do larger maps as best as possible. I play JK2 & JK3 & I am constantly playing Duel because I can not handle the larger maps. I have yet to test this vid card on these larger maps yet but I do plan on doing so today,

What's better, a vid card with 32mb AGP or 64mb PCI?

Anyone know a place that lists the various processor sockets & what processor will work in each one?
I have a few socket 7 motherboards here & I'm not sure what chips will work in it, I also have a socket 462 board. Again, same dilemma.
As always, thanks for your time folks.

I'm using XP Corp which is a slightly modified version of Pro. That tip fixed it though, thanks fellas.

I like to lock certain stuff out & can't in XP but I could in 2k (yes I am in the admin account). I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the "Security" section working like it was in win2k.
Thanks for your time folks.

What's the third party app?

I totally disabled ActiveX in "Internet Options" but now whenever a site tries to use ActiveX, I get this prompt that says "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."
Anyone know how to ditch this pop up message? I get it all the time (even on non-dagerous sites, including these forums) & it's really annoying.
FYI,
#1 I want to use Internet Explorer, not Opera, not Netscape (lol), or anything else.
#2 I have n00bs in this house. If they got prompted with a "HIT OK OR YOUR COMPUTER WILL BLOW UP!!!!" message, they'd hit okay & next thing you know, spyware galore is installed - screw that.

The HP site is hella goofy but I was able to find the motherboard layout on there elsewhere, thanks anyways.
-
I highly doubt that, I have a couple of PCs after this year & tons of PCs before, my experience tells me that I need to set the motherboard to the right clockspeed but the only problem here is I can't find a manual or layout to do so.
I'll look into this cpu-z thing tho. thanks.
-
Alright, so I'm going over this chip that's clocked at 450mhz & I notice the board is set to 300 mhz - you can imagine my dismay. Anyways, I'm looking for a manual or a layout for a Hewlett Packard 8480Z P28-VE motherboard.
All I'm looking to do is set the motherboard to 450 - that's it. I've already checked the processor out, it's a 450. Any help here would be appreciated.

I used OnTrack Disk Manager & got the boot sector fixed... sorta. It works but I can't run the Western Digital or the MaxBlast partition proggies.
As for the booting off of a CD, that's a no go for now because this is a real old PC & the BIOS doesn't support it. I am trying to do a BIOS update & we'll see what happens.
I was originally able to boot CDs from the boot sector the Western Digital partition proggy had created but now that's trashed & I can't use the programs again.
-
Alright, so I used Parition magic on a HD that I already used Western Digitals Data Lifeguard tools & Maxtors MaxBlast Partition software for (2 drives are Western Digitals, the other 1 is Maxtor).
After I used Partition magic, the boot sector is totally screwed & I can't use the manufacturers software on it now, any suggestions on how to fix?
-
It's the data lifeguard tools one, not EZ-Drive & these are for Maxtor hard drives. Only the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools Dynamic Drive Overlay was able to add CD-ROM boot support to the PC. Weird, I'll try & see what I can find out, thanks.
-
Tried that, no luck. The Packard Bell uses AMIBIOS & there's no ID at the bottom left like the screenie indicates, just a BIOS version.
As for the other boards, I have not een able to get to it as of yet. 1 thing at a time.
-
The older Western Digital hard drives have a partition proggy & in that proggy is a program called Dynamic Drive Overlay or DDO for short. This program allows booting off of CD-ROMS on boards that BIOS do not support this.
I can't find this software for non Western Digital Drives, I was curious if anyone could help me out. Thanks for your time either way.

First off, I apologize about the delay but I had other obstacles that got in my way before I could even come back to this (story of my life).
Anyways, I do not want the FAT system on there EVER or AT ALL. I want to totally get rid of it & I don't even want it on there temporarily (I've seen this type of thing cause problems for others in the past).
As for going the BIOS route, I can't find it anywhere. There is a BIOS update on the Intel set that *may* work but I doubt it. If I install the wrong BIOS will that mess up the PC?
As for those MS links, those just tell you how to make bootable floppies, not how to boot a CD from a floppy.
There is a type of software out there called Dynamic Drive Overlay (or DDO for short) & has also been called Disk Manager. I have an older Western Digital hard drive on one of the other computers & it installs this DDO software either on the drive itself or on the PC elsewhere - this software permits booting off of a CD-ROM but I can't find a download for DDO on non western digital hard drives anywhere.
Any suggestions?

The problem is 3 of these boards don't have manuals online. 1 is a Packard Bell & the other 2 are from a mom & pop shop - no brand name. I've tried searching for it on the net & came up with nothing.
I think I have the PB board figured out, they did a pretty good job of explaining things right on the board but I'm not 100% sure on the 2 Award Software boards.
-
I didn't smell anyhting burning but the thing is I have 3 AMD K6-2 chips, so I have no clue if the board is no good, if it's all 3 of the chips, or if it's all of it. This is someone elses stuff so I could have got it in a non-working state - that's what I'm trying to dertermine.
-
I have a processor chip that I am pretty sure is a 200 mhz but the chip that was on there was a 166 mhz. Now when it boots up, it says it's a 166 mhz still. I also swapped out another chip on another board & the same thing happens.
I have gone through 3 different manuals for 3 different motherboards, I don't find "setting the clockspeed" anywhere, nor do I find it in CMOS (at least not in a changeable field).
Am I supposed to change the clockspeed somewhere when I install a faster chip?
Can't install TweakUI for XP (KERNEL32.dll)
in Software
Posted
I'm trying to install TweakUI for XP & when I try to install the application I get...
"The procedure entry point GetDllDirectory could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"
I am using an admin account to install the application & I'm not sure what to do here. Thanks for your time.
