    Thanks, but that still didn't work. As soon as I move the mouse, the whole system just locks up.

    You can turn network services off by default. However, even with networking enabled, it should eventually load anyway, though it may take a while to do so if there is no ethernet connection available.[/u]

    Try rebuilding the kernel, then building the Nvidia kernel module.
