My system on Ebay. What do you think it is worth?

Wow, a lot of extras there... I would estimate everything is at least worth $700.

BE6-II with PIII 1GHz NO GO

Is the new 1GHz processor based on a .18 micron or .13? If it's a .13 you will likely have problems..

Mandrake 6 can't detect my floppy drive

Are you able to read/write to the floppy from other operating systems? Does the floppy led stay lit? Have you tried replacing the cable? Just some general thoughts. Let me know how you make out.

    Help with boot.ini

OK, so making sure that I understand this correctly: You have a 4GB drive, primary on ide1, with win98... ide2 has 2 partitions, ME, and XP.... The boot.ini below is based upon what I understand to be correct, I could be mistaken. The default OS will be 98SE. [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\="Windows 98SE" multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\="Windows ME" multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP" /fastdetect Again, I could be wrong.... Anyone else care to comment on the above boot.ini?

    The best reliable download manger

I personally do not use a download manager, but after consulting one of my coworkers, he recommended star download manager. http://www.stardownloader.com/index.php It's freeware, apparently free of spyware. As far as overall quality, I browsed a few shareware sites, and this seems to be fairly good.

    Soundcard with a Optical out

Is there a retailer who sells the SoundBlaster Audigy line? I have an Audigy MP3 card, and it has coax digital out, and if you were to get the platinum line, it has fiber out via the audigy drive front panel connection.

    HELP Needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

When you ran partitionmagic, how were the partitions set up originally? I know that HP pc's with xp preloaded have a 'hidden' partition, usually the first partition on hdd1, that has essentially a restore cd on it. Also, xp is usually on the 2nd partition. If you altered what partition number xp was on, you will have to edit the boot.ini file to reflect which partition your xp installation is on. As a recommendation, unless you plan on having multiple operating systems on your pc, I wouldn't install bootmagic. Let me know if you need some more info, I can post a sample boot.ini file if needed, too.

Interesting, so it's been updated then. I was unaware of that. AFAIK, the 'official' beta build was 2799.

    tv-out on graphic cards

Quote: With My Geforce 4600 - when i put on dual display with my T.V - i can not have media player or Power DVD on the TV side playing a movie, while i do something else on my actual monitor. - it just shows as a black screen - never had this issue with ATI - likely just something i am doing wrong. Actually, I think you may be wrong, I think that the tv out is disabled during dvd playback for copyright reasons. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that I had read that somewhere. Can anyone else confirm this?Thanks...

Is the XP serial key stored in the registry?

First, I really shouldn't support any pirated copys, but I had to clarify a few things here. First, windows update is not supposed to identify product ids until 10/1/02. Second, yes, you can change your key, and hopefully no one here will tell you how, you'll need to find that out yourself. Third, if you're using the corporate key, which you indicated so, the keys on the sides of cases will not work, since those are to be activated, all oem keys either require activation, or are tied to oem bios strings for activation. Best of luck, and I seriously recommend buying your next microsoft operating system.

Windows 2000 SP3 causes problem with scsiport.sys driver

If you're concerned, you can rename your current (sp3) scsiport.sys to something like scsiport.sys.sp3 when you copy the old file over. By the way, the file is going in C:\WINNT\System32\Drivers.

Windows 2000 SP3 causes problem with scsiport.sys driver

Last night I extracted scsiport.sys from the w2ksp2.exe network install service pack, and I can send it to you, if you chose not to back up files for sp3 uninstall. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.
