  1. If there are no seeds then no one is sharing the file, or your firewall/ISP/BSP is explicitly blocking the BT ports of 6881-6889. Edit part: I missed where you said it was your school firewall. You could beg the firewall/system admin to allow you to download "questionable" content, and thereby placing the school liable for your actions, but I wouldn't be too optimistic on that approach. Any other means of circumventing in place protections will likely get you reprimanded, possibly severly depending upon local laws/school policies.

    ISP Worm

I could have sworn that I looked at Port Reporter a few years ago, but maybe not. Specifically, I was referring to WinPcap and Ethereal or Packetyzer.

    Spyware Or Trojan???

I'm not sure if there is a definative way to check for profile corruption, you could try logging in as another user, and check for similar activity.

How to test a backup on W2K?

I check the CRCs/verify the data backup, that's really all that's mission-critical here. As for testing, I have a seperate DC and about 3 test clients that I can test some new software/services on before deploying. Great? No, but so far it's been ok. Most all of the data is just SQL databases, and I have tape, SAN, and an off-site backups done of those databases.

XP Pro and Promise FastTrak 100-Lite Problems

It sounds to me like a bad driver for the RAID card, or perhaps an unstable firmware. Have you checked on the RAID card manufacturer's web site for driver/firmware updates?

    Uninstall 3dstudiomax 4.0

How about if you delete (via Windows Explorer) the program folder, and try to reinstall, then uninstall?

XP Pro firewall......is it worth using?

I used to be a long time user of ZA at home, but have switched to Sygate Personal Firewall now, and think it's significantly better (at least as far as logging, reporting, and advanced rulesets).

How to test a backup on W2K?

Personally, I just back up the data. The configuration I know how to re-create, in addition to the server roles. Keep in mind, I am responsible for 5 Windows servers, 2 Linux servers, and one AIX server. One of the Windows Servers is actually a Dell P/E 2650 as well I'm sure that's not best practice, but all of the server hardware is so dissimilar.

XP Shutdown shortcut doesn't work for users

Or, depending if this pc is a workgroup/domain pc, you can use local security policy/group policy to grant the shutdown right to the limited user/user group.

    Spyware Or Trojan???

Sounds like a corrupt user profile more than anything else.

    Uninstall 3dstudiomax 4.0

Yes, try reinstalling (installing to the same location) and then uninstalling. Hope that helps, and don't worry about your english, I understand that it's not everyone's primary language

    Uninstall 3dstudiomax 4.0

The uninstall procedure is looking for the original .msi installation package. In order to uninstall this correctly, you may need to have the CD in the drive, or reinstall the application, then attempt uninstallation again.

    Deleting local profiles

Are you using roaming profiles? If so, there's a group policy that you can enforce for your OU if you choose that deletes the locally cached copy of the profile upon user logoff; although this is potentially a bit performance hit. Also, if disk space on the server is an issue, you could look into mandatory profiles, and have users save files in the static (non-roaming) home directory.

ATI RAGE IIC AGP WINXP DRIVER PROBLEM

That's a really old video card, circa 1997, with 2MB of RAM. In order to play any OpenGL games, you'll need to upgrade to something that newer. Basic 2D drivers should be included with Windows XP.

    ISP Worm

Possible, but highly unlikely, as certinaly others would have observed similar unethical behavior. Blaster is a very agressive worm, and can infect an unprotected host very, very quickly, which I believe is what happened. The best, most accurate way to determine the source would be to install a packet capture library and dump the packets.

    Default cursor

This may be possible with the standard administrative templates, although I've never enforced this policy: Domain Policy/Your OU: -> User Configuration: -> Administrative Templates: -> Control Panel: -> Display: -> Desktop Themes: -> "Load a specific visual style or force Windows Classic" This may not directly be what you're looking for, but I think the visual style is inclusive of the cursors. This is with the Windows XP Professional SP1 ADM templates, by the way. On the other hand, is it necessary to prohibit users changing their cursors? HTH

Why wont 7th Guest fully intall in WINDOWS XP?

When I last played this on a 2000 (same applies for XP as well) system, I just copied the files off of both discs and used the beta directx t7g.exe file. This file may be very hard to come by (it was a few years ago when I last looked) but I have it somewhere on my hard drive, and should you need it, I can send it to you, or upload it to my webspace and send you a PM with a link. Let me know
