what are you using to burn the .iso images. and plus did you go into bios and change your bootup options to boot from the cdrom first and not the hard disk or floppy check those frist

the reason why you are have this problem is becuase you probably don't have your video drivers for linux installed or the kernel source. what video card are you running? nvidia, ati.....? if you are running an nvidia card then you have to go to the website and get the drivers for linux and then you might have to download the kernel sources from the mandrake website to get the drivers to work. hops this works for you!!!!

what distro of linux are you using....redhat, mandrake, debian......what is it? if you are running redhat or mandrake you can try to get an rpm package from www.rpmfind.net. you can not install the rpm package it will let you know what dependencies are needed to install the package? if you are running debian use the apt-get install command to get the package. hope this helps!!!!!

hey if you wanna get both os's to work just format your first hard drive as your windows drive and then the second hard drive as your linux drive. you wanna makd a /boot partition of 32MB then a swap partiation the same size as your memory, and then the last partition make that your / partition of the whole drive. so when you partition everything first you wanna install windows on he first drive. then after you are done with installation on of windows, pop in the linux cds and follow the wizards in the instasll. at the end when you are done installing the packages that you wanna install you will come to a configuration part in he installation. there you can configure LILLO and makse sure that there is an opition there for windows. one you configure that then you are good to go....you are now able to duel boot between linux and windows....good luck!!!!! ..:Matrix3000k:..

ok your very first problem is using Windows ME...... this verison of windows was not built to use on a network but more for multimedia and games. i mean yes of course you can network it up together but its not that good. that is why you are having this problem. or your networking hub is not 10/100 its probably 10mbps which is really really really slow. so you might wanna look into that. ok so you have a windows xp machine that is good. but i would not try to network it with windows ME if i were you i would reformat the windows ME machines and installed either windows xp or windows 2000.....i would not suggest upgrading from windwos me cause you will deffently run into problems later on and you will finally end up reformating your system. trust me i have been through hell and beyond that with windows ME.......let me know if this information helps or if you are still having problems have a nice day

sorry to say that what hp is telling you in the article is totally false.... they can never get their point across. what they are trying to say is that you need to crate a boot disk..... a Windows boot disk where you have to restart your computer and have the disk inserted in the floppy to start up from and then once it picksup the disk you computer would start up in dos mode with three options........ 1. start computer with cd rom support. 2. start computer with out cd rom support. and 3. help. of course you would go with option 2 cause you do not need to use the cd rom. then you will see a bunch of stuff scrolling up and the computer in the end will bring you to an A prompt. in there you type FDISK command and that will let you partition your hard drive....... if you want to avoid all these stepps simply purchas a copy of partition magic and use that in windows itself and all you have to do after you set partition in that program is that you have to restart your computer and you are all done........ and here a little bit of advise NEVER LISTEN TO HP OR COMPAQ.....i have wasted alot of time with their Techs on the phone and they seriously don't know what they are talking about.......

Just to let everyone know that the sp1 on the ftp site of microsoft is a beta version and not full version and i would not even take a chance using beta software especially SP1 on windows xp cuase from past expirences the two combos don't mix to well together.

just wanted to let all of you guys know that the software that comes with the tv wonder card is not good at all under windows xp even though it says it is in the manual.....i downloaded powerVCR from cyberlink.com and that software works excellent with my tv card try it out it might work well for allof you that are having problems as well.
