  1. Hold the phone..................

    Eureka............

    Stop the presses, etc.

Would you believe on the top line of the PCI/PNP config screen there is a PNP OS installed and it was set to NO by default I believe since I didn't change it. I did set it to yes and all appears to be fine.

  2. I have a Crystal ISA audio card that I have tried in both ISA slots and it hangs the boot process.

I believe I have used the card elsewhere and it worked, but I'm not sure. Do I assume it is bad? Computer boots fine without it.

I'm running 2k on a Soyo BX chipset MB.

  3. I'm running Win 2000 w/sp3 installed on a VIA KT133 MB.

I have looked at the FAQ's which didn't help.

I have read the manual which only confused the issue more.

There are the V31.40 program/driver, the WDM capture driver V1.19, the Live V4.6b program/driver and the VGART/AGP driver dated 11/02.

    1. What is the install order for the programs/drivers with a V7100DC?

    2. Which drivers are needed for the Live feature? Are WDM drivers needed?

    3. Is the VGART driver needed? How is that different from the VIA 4in1 patch?

    4. I get 2 error messeges under start services when I open Digital VCR: Can't find file sepecifed and Can't start kernel mode driver service. What isn't being started?

    5. I can't access the video in using either Video Security or Digital VCR, just the USB cameras.

  4. Guess what?

I did that before you wrote it, or at least before I read it and it worked!

    I then uninstalled Acrobat!

Just wished that the D/L page was clearer on:

    a. which file to d/l

    b. what order to install without hunting it up.

After you install GS, then install View all is fine after you delete all those other shortcuts since the View is all you use. I also renamed the 'Gum' to 'View' since it is the name of the program.

Look at that reference page. It's a PITA to set up but GSview and Ghostscript will allow you to create your own pdf files. Once set up, this is very nice. You can get rid of Adobe altogether laugh
First off, you click on the shortcut in the start menu and all you get is a open window similar to wordpad with no menu bar! Useless. I clicked on a pdf document and it opened it up, but still no tool/menu bar. Still useless. I right clicked on the image; nothing again still dito!

Sorry that isn't my idea of a Windows program!

  6. I looked at the GhostView or whatever it is called and ruled that out right off the bat. Too complicated. I don't know what type of program that is called, but it's over my head. I'm not at the level of being a developer or anything like that. It only allows you to view the document, no print or anything like that without using another program.

I just want a trimmed down version of Arcobat to view and print pages. It would be nice to edit those also, but after trying the full version of Acrobat I gave up on that. Learning the O/S from scratch was easier.

Are most of these subsistutes similar to that Ghostview?

I'd think that an easy way to figure it out would be to simply reinstall it using the Add-Remove Programs icon in Control Panel, but use the Add-Remove Windows Components section of it, rather than the 3rd party program removal section.
You bring up another somewhat un-related issue. Using the shortcut to remove that program (non-M$) verses add/remove programs. Isn't both of those the same? One is a shortcut and the other is through Control Panel, right?
I will re-install Paint as see if that is it.

I personally set up one account as I want it, then copy that profile (System>User Profiles) to the "Default User" folder under Documents & Settings - making sure to back it up first "just in case" of course smile

    Works for me....
That would be ok to create another user on the same computer without re-installing the O/S, but how could that work on a new install on another computer or even the same computer from scratch.

I'm talking about re-installing 2k on the same box without spending a hour or so doing all the tweaking on Window size, color, font, position, and the other dozens and dozens of settings that make a customized Windows install.
