Has anyone gotten MATLAB 5.3 to work??

Hey guys... was just wondering if anyone has gotten this to work. It installed correctly for me but when I run it, it locks up my system, and i have to hard reboot it :( I'm really pissed about this.... I need this program for school.... Plz...
