SVHS vs Composite

How long can an S-vhs cable be without loosing information. What is best for tv-out composite or svhs? Any differences at all?...

distance? I dont have a clue, but Im guessing with a Highquality cable, IE gold leads and the whole nine, it would be fine with 20++ feet.

And I cant give u the difference in terms of numbers, but with my laptop the composte output compared to s-video is huge almost like night and day. I def think its important if ur a tv-out person

I linked three 12 foot cables (36ft) without any problems. I was told I could go 50ft but I think I was pushing it with 36ft. I now have an x10 DVDanywhere. It's a 2gighrtz transmit and reciver. I can now hook up the reciver at my neighbors house and watch a DVD movie at his house thats playing on my computer at my house.

Composite is better. For my dvd player, i was told to use composit because it is the better one to use.

Hmm not sure why somebody would tell you that..
S-VIDEO is MUCH better display than Composite.. but harder to find components to use...

Not many people have a SVIDEO capable TV or VCR..but if you do USE IT..SVIDEO is digital signal as compared to Composite's ANALOG signal..

However if you buy a cheap SVIDEO cable you might be looking at a Composite signal =)

Hope this helps

Both composite and S-VHS are analog!
The difference is that the bandwidth of S-VHS is much larger than plain vanilla composite.
That's why the quality of the signal - and of the resulting picture - is so superior.
To enjoy S video, you must have S-compatible video equipment. Most recent medium to high-end TV sets have an S-video input.
If you own such a set, go with S for sure.
As far as the cable in concerned, it must be top notch quality beyond a few metres if you really want a super-super clean signal.

S-video is split up to the different colors, rgb and brightness hue and the rest of the signals, each on it's own wire
the VHS connector is all of them combined, that's why the SVideo is the better one, as the signals are clearer and better quality
i don't think it is a digital signal thou.
equipent with SVideo connectors is moe expensive and less common, the wire itself is also more expensive, thou better quality
