ok i am a 14 yr old who doesnt know crap about computers.
i need help!!! cry anyways.... the problem is that i have an HP(compaq nc6000) and when i am at my dads house it works perfectly fine.... but when i go to my moms a blue screen pops up,aka blue sceen of death, and it doesnt stay there it flashes there for like a split second and its gone. the only thing i got a chance to read is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL..... i have no idea what that means, and then it just restarts all over again!!!! This has only happened the past two weeks but it has worked fine at my moms house in the past..... its so frustrating. Even when i go into safe mode with netwoking it restarts. so i figured it must be the network but again im 14.....

TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AND EVEN BETTER IF U CAN KEEP DIRECTIONS SIMPLE AND EVEN BETTER WOULD BE A RESPONSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!

Thank you

If you want the blue screen to stay up instead of rebooting your computer then you need to right-click on "My Computer" and go to properties. Then go to the "Advanced" Tab, Go to "Startup and Recovery", and click on "Settings", now uncheck "Automatically Restart".

Now the BSOD should stay up so you can see if it's failing on a driver and you can get the error code.

Most likely it's bad memory so test your memory with Memtest86+: http://www.memtest.org/

Read the error code on the BSOD and try to fix it.

Is the problem consistently different at the two houses?
Are you using any different hardware at each house? Different USB drive? Keyboard? Mouse? Monitor?

A quick google reveals that the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message is generally associated with buggy drivers (small software modules that are automatically loaded for each hardware item in or connected to your computer).

It's possible that one component has an incorrect or corrupted driver. If you can narrow it down to which component, you'll be a long way toward solving the problem. Or you can just not use that piece of hardware.

First of all thanks that helps a lot and second of all it is consistantly diff and nothing is different besides the network. Umm I deleted the most recent software that may have caused the problem but that wasn't the problem.... As far as hardware goes I don't think I have any new hardware if I do I don't know how to check that. The only real thing I can think of is there is something wrong with the network( even it has worked fine before and other computers work fine in that network also) or since it a used computer it might be internal( but it has worked fine in the past).

How are you connecting to the network at each location? Modem, cable, wireless...?

Does the problem disappear when you don't connect to the network?

Well it doesn't sound like you are interested in trying to fix it. So give it to someone you know who can, give it to the Geek Squad, or junk it and buy a new one.
