Oakley, California - Green iPhone app, MeterRead (Go Green, Save Money, Save Earth) has extended its $1.99 Earth Day sale through Sunday, April 26th, 2009. MeterRead provides the key feedback that will help you understand and reduce your energy consumption. Detailed feedback includes and estimated 30 day kW-h usage based on your current reading.

Motivated people who monitor their electric use generally save between 10-20% on their electric bill. ("The Effectiveness of Feedback on Energy Consumption" S.Darby, 2006). MeterRead also easily deciphers the confusing clockwise and counterclockwise rotating dials. It is set up to work with digital read out meters as well.

"Hot days are ahead and this is when most customers see a huge increase in their electric bills due to heavy air conditioning usage. Our app will help you see just how much energy you can save by making minor household changes including simply lowering your thermostat" says Mark Barton, Marketing Director at Zerogate and co-creator of MeterRead.

"The idea of the app came to me when we first moved into our new home last year and our first PG&E bill was $436 which was a shock. We did not realize that air conditioning was set on a timer to run at night while we slept. Once that problem was fixed we still had about a $200 monthly bill. By using the app we now keep our electric use under 700 kW-h per month which makes the bill $150. The feedback feature has a great effect and has helped us immensely."

System Requirements:
* iPod Touch or iPhone 2.2 or later

The app is on version 1.2.1 and now supports multiple meters, multiple languages and day and night meters.
