Well, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a simple way to do this. As is with the case for all applications which have problems running on a newer OS than what it was intended for, I always suggest installing Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 (which is free
here).
Once installed, run the virtual machine (VM) and install Windows 98 on it. Then you should be able to run your older games on the VM that don't work on XP or later. This goes especially for anyone using Vista who are having problems with XP apps.
