Also I have a problem with my anti-virus, could this be the problem?

Sure, you could have some major filesystem issues and/or the OS system files have gotten corrupted.

This could be caused by Windows simply barfing on itself causing the corruption or a sign of some hardware failure, such as the HD and/or the RAM.

I would first run a full chkdsk by opening up the propertied for you C: drive and click on Tools then Error Checking. Be sure to check both boxes for Automatically fix errors and Scan for and Attempt Recovery.

The program will say it needs to schedule a scandisk on the next startup, have it do this and then reboot the OS and watch for when that 93% scan comes into play. Which Pass is it on, there will be 5 different passes or checks, so if it's on the 3 of 5 passes then it's on the third check portion.

Good afternoon. If your AntiVirus program is Norton, then it is possible this could be the problem. Make sure your license is not expired and if not, then try un-installing and then re-installing Norton. Also you could try opening a DOS Window and typing Chekdisk /F. I know this is almost the same as runninf from the desktop but it just may make a difference. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, and hopefully I can re-install my anti-virus by tomorrow and see if it runs a scan without freezing my pc.

Also when it gets stuck on 93%, it says it's on stage 1 of 3. Does this mean anything?

I'm getting this error and I tried everything, could it be the motherboad is bad?

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory option such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0X0000000A (0XFFBE0000, 0X00000001, 0X00000000, 0X804F4689)

Beginning dump of physical memory
physical memory dump complete.

Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

Now windows can't copy all of the wpl files... I have the disk in there and it's a new Windows XP Media Center Edition.... It can't find the i386 folder. Shouldn't that file be on the new XP disk?
