i would like to ask if what type of media player you can recommend to use? as in it's advantages?

I use both xine for dvd because it has menu support, and for vcd and divx easy gui.

I use mplayer for quicktime streaming. (www.apple.com trailers)

a) Ogle for DVD's

b) Xine for all kind of videos & DVD's as well

It's a pain to compile but once you do step by step what needs you won't have a problem
