I' ve got a Gateway EV500 monitor (5 years old)!A few months ago it started to blink every now and then (a sparky noise came from the monitor - then went black for 1-2 seconds - then recovered almost immediately).The last few days the blinking got more and more frequent.Sometimes after the blinking the monitor displayed the monitor settings panel.Some other times it went on stand by mode all alone.Until yesterday.It went black forever.Rebooting did nothing.The screen is black.Computer boots ok , windows start normally , audio is ok , but the screen remains black.Can't see anything!The light on the monitor is green but the screen is black!I'm just about to buy a new monitor (planned it anyway)!But , has the monitor really gone bad or is it the video card?Please help!

First try the monitor on different video card, if same problem, then the monitor have come its end. Let it go and buy new monitor.

I tested it on another system!Still the same problem!Ok!Bought a new one 30 mins ago.Thank you very much for your help.
