Hi,

I suppose you visit some sites you should not have smile

If you are running XP you can go into your registry:

START > RUN > type in REGEDIT and press enter

Follow the following keys (on the left):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

On the right you will see a bunch of files like:

url23 REG_SZ http://www.google.com/

Delete the ones you dont want your parents or girlfriend to see smile or if you want to delete all of them do so, but leave the (DEFAULT) one.

Hi Alec§taar, thanks for the compliment, coming from you that means a lot smile

Sorry to say, but, the

"Control panel-> Internet Options icon -> History GroupBox -> Clear History"

or

from Internet Explorer "Tools -> Internet Options -> History GroupBox -> Clear History "

does not clear manually typed addresses in the address bar, it only clears the history of previously browsed pages that someone can recall with the HISTORY button on Internet Explorer. The Default its set to is 1 week I think, I set mine to 0, I dont like that History thing smile

Regards
AJ

Hmmm, sorry, but I think (or I hope) he meant the address bar in IE itself, cause the solution is for that.

STILL, I would have figured MSwould have tied these 2 together, since they do pretty nearly the same stuff, except the Address toolbar by StartBar can launch apps (try cmd.exe if you have not before)... IE's addy bar seemingly cannot!

When you talk about the StartBar, do you mean the RUN command under the Start Button? if not, please tell me more about this StartBar.

If you are talking about the RUN command under Start then I would say nice, I like the RUN command, I use the mouse very little, only when browsing the net and playing games, other than that I use the keyboard and all its shortcuts, its much faster than what anyone can work with a mouse.

Your right, you cant run (well, I dont know how) CMD from the address bar in IE or the file Explorer, but the IE address bar and the Explorer address bar does exactly the same thing, you can type in any web address or path on your hard drive in either of them and it will find it, and that also works with the RUN command, but the RUN command has the extra ability to run common commands like "cmd", "winword", "excel", "notepad", "mspaint", "calc" and so on without having to add the whole path the where the file lies on your hard drive.

Sorry about the late reply, we went to join a friend of my wife for her birthday at a sportshall about 15km from where we stay to see a German band called "ONE" http://www.one-rockshow.de/
It was pretty nice, and they sang a wide veriety of songs, and, we got chosed 3 times by different tour groups that take photos at parties and then they post it on the web, I will add the links once I find the photos.
Anyway, to get back to the point smile

Now, that was an interesting read, thanks APK.
About the address bar thingy, I've never played with it, all I use is the RUN command and the quick launch bar and one personal added bar for games.

Yes, I know TWEAKUI, I've never used it though, but, at one stage I made a little batch file to delete all temp files and so on on startup, I added it in the autoexec file, it worked very well, I think I did it the first time for my WIN98 at work and it just kind of carried on up to XP, which got a bit more trickier. Now, well, I dont even know what I did with that file, hee hee, long time ago.

Yes, I'm curious too about what he was talking about, cant wait for his post.

Well, it's NOT MUCH of a DIFF. between the two, functionally, but this TaskBar optional AddressBar sits RIGHT THERE in front of you... saves you a mouseclick on the StartButton only really!

Hee hee, I dont click on the start button, I dont know when last I did, I use shortcuts like WINDOWS BUTTON+R and E and so on, its a lot faster than working with a mouse.

I would not mind seeing those pics... lol, just to see your face & all that stuff! It's always nice to see folks from forums you write to... makes them more than just "text mode beings" etc.

Well, as promised, enjoy smile
