Hello all,

I have 2 questions:

1. Can someone explain to me why it is that CRT monitors can not seem to keep their "sizing" settings after they have been off for a while? I go through a lot of tedium to try and make my screen be as edge-to-edge as possible and as squared as possible, but then if the monitor gets turned off, either by me or by the power saving settings, when I turn it back on, the size is alighty altered. The screen has either become slightly smaller or bigger or it has simply moved in one of the 4 directions - forcing me to once again go through the process of making edge-to-edge. Anyway, I am just curious as to why this is, since it happens with all of the CRT monitors I have or have had, different sizes and brands.

2. Is there some way to prevent this? Or at least some way to truly save my settings so they can be restored in a very small amount of clicks instead of having to tediously go through the whole process from scratch?

Thanks for any information

Hmm, can't say I've suffered from that. The only times something similar happens is when the refresh rates and resolutions change. Then it takes a bit of tweaking and everything is sorted again.

I don't use power saving on my monitor as it just annoys me. Normally, CRT monitors can take a few minutes to warm up once they've been switched off. During this time it can appear as if the screen geometry is out, but it should settle down again.

My Iiyama 17" monitor is about 5 years old and perfectly remembers all its settings whilst it is switched off. Even after being away and leaving the monitor off for a couple of weeks, it's fine when I switch it on again.

You won't be able to reconfigure your monitor 'in a very small amout of clicks', as it is the monitor that is out, and not Windows. Windows has no idea what the geometry settings for your monitor are, and it can't control them.
