I have tried to install 2 different nic's (Belkin F5D5000 and a Linksys LNE100TX) and a Cisco PC350 Airnet card in a WIN2K SP3 machine with no luck. Each time I receive a message that the driver data is invalid or not of the expected type. The device then shows in Device Manager under other devices as not configured correctly, Code 1
My system has an ECS K7S5A mb, 512 mb of Kingston PC2100 ddr, running W2K SP3, Leadtek Geoforce 2 MX Video w/32mb and a SB 512 pci sound, AMD 1800XP+(not overclocked) and the bios is currently set to a PnP operating system.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Do you get that error with the drivers included with the hardware, and drivers downloaded from the manufacturer's web sites? Did you do a clean os install yet?

Adam,
I have gotten the error both ways. The install was new several months ago and I am pretty careful about installing things. I just installed sp3 in the last two weeks but got the error both before and after the service pack install.
I just downloaded and tried to install the latest Belkin driver and it seems to find only the driver in the C:\winnt\inf directory even though I point it towards the C:\belkin directory. I then get a message about Microsoft signed drivers stating that this one is not. Is there an option to only use Microsoft signed drivers that I may have accidentally set?
Thanks,

There is such an option, but is sounds like that option is off, which is just fine. I found an article on the MSKB that might be of some help.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defaul...eshoot_5e93.asp

This basically says to reinstall the driver. Have you tried updating the motherboard drivers yet?
