Cannot Boot with Vista

[b][/b]Hi, First my laptop didnt recognize my logon info, then it told me i have a boot sector problem. I repaired with recovery console as per instructions on microsoft website, used bootrec.exe,
rebuilt boot record, tried to fix with FixMbr which command was not recognized and also couldnt use the command FixBoot. Vista DVD disk now doesnt find any problems, yet I still can't log on..anyone with similar problems?

Does it boot up ok? Do you get the login prompt? Maybe its just a password problem rather than a boot problem.

Hi Pete! Thanks for your assistance..At first I couldn't log on, because it didnt recognize my password, then it stated i had a boot problem and windows proceeded to fix errors, now i just get a flashing cursor on a black background.
