How can I figure out what my grapic card & adapter is? How do I find out what directx type I have? The sims worked on my computer but the sims 2 won't run & comes up with the message about compatible graphics adapters. How much money will it cost to get the sims 2 to run as I think I may need to update the directx.

First, I will suggest that you title the thread better and you'll be more likely to receive help.

To find out what kind of graphics adapter and DirectX version you have, click start then run. In the open box, type dxdiag and press enter.

On the bottom of the first page there you will see your DirectX version. On the display tab, the device shown on top left will be your graphics adapter type.

As for updating DirectX, latest released version is 9.0c, go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

Ensure that DirectX is up to date, and get the latest drivers for your video card as well.

If you're still having issues, let us know what card you have and likely someone will have some other suggestion for you at that time.
