Window XP's login info lost

guys...somehow the xp administrator login password is not getting thru the program...it was fine till this morning..i didnt alter the password but somehow the password is not helping..i checked on caps, spelling and etc..but still cant..

Check the caps lock is not on. If that is not helping, reset the password again.

I have used some of the hints here to repair a few XPO logins but have a new wrinkle.

Fixed a XP home system by replacing userinit.exe and was able to login. Thats where the adventure began. This person had been all over the internet and downloaded a lot of items. Virus and spyware out of date. Updated both and removed 41 items with Norton AV and 864 adware items.

Next boot came up with power on passwood required which I fixed by dumping cmos. The login problem was back. Tried replacing userinit.exe and repairing XP with the CD but no luck.

Don't want to reload due to important files. Any suggestions anyone?
