DOS command "LOCK" What does it do? - 12/02/00 06:29 AM

"WARNING: The LOCK command enables direct disk access by programs
that can CORRUPT file names and/or DESTROY disk data, resulting in the
loss of files on your disk.

Are you sure (Y/N)?"

What does THAT mean???

It locks a drive for direct disk access. Windows will not be able to protect long filenames with the disk locked.
Its for apps which require exclusive access to files. Use unlock to unlock (simple eh!)
