Anybody know what app opens a .dat file?

It could be a file from a (S)VCD, try open it up with mplayer and see if it works smile

Actually, it can be anything. If it's a binary then you'll need to know what application uses it and use that program to open it. If it's a plain-text then yon can open it with any text editor.
Try 'less filename'.

Asit turned out, I e-mailed the sender back, asking which app it was creatred with. She said it was sent by mistake. I did open it as an .rtf, and could make out that it was created with Microsoft Word,(what else.. ;( ), but that is as far as I got. I did some googleing, and it seems that files sometime get corrupted either in the sending or recieving and just come out as a .dat. Thanks though!
