  1. Hello everyone. I just purchased RealFlight Deluxe. It is a remote control aircraft and helo simulator. The company says it's only designed for 95/98 but they state on their web site that they've gotten it to work on certain win2k machines but obviously, it's not supported. So I got it home and tried to install it under win2k pro final. It hits the cd rom for a couple of seconds then nothing. Just stops spinning the cd rom and I'm back to business as usual. No error message or anything, just stops the setup at that point. Tried it on two different win2k machines. Then the NT machine at work. No go. On a win95 laptop it got into the setup but I canceled it once I saw it was working ok. I tried using the utility ap(something) that lets you specify which os it will trick the exe into think it's running under. No go there either. Kept saying the debugger was running. Huh??? So I emailed the developers and they said no win2k or nt due to "bugs" with win2k and directx. If I could at least install the freakin thing then I'd be inclined to listen to them blaming the incompatibility on MS. But it won't even get to the initial language selection dialog box when running setup.exe. So if anyone has gotten this app to work, knows of anyone who has or can think of a workaround to the install problem I'm having, I'll be eternally grateful. If not, gotta install 98 back on the box and negate all the bennies of having a dual celeron box when running this application. Thanks in advance. Tim
  2. Hi everyone. I've read almost every post and have gotten lots of good info from this board. But now I've got a problem that I'd like some opinions on. Here are my system specs. Win2k Pro Final 128 mb micron ram BP6 with latest non beta bios dual celeron 400 o/c to 500 Diamond TNT2 w/v3.81 drivers maxtor 20gb 7200 rpm hd My problem is that I've got a fair number of games that "lock" my computer up. No BSOD, no reboot just a complete hang-up of the system. I end up having to do a hard reboot to bring the system back up. Specifically, I've had the following games do this: Asherons Call (just a few times) Everquest (lots) MindRover (every time) Nascar 2000 Demo Elmo in Grouchland So after reading the thread on the latest nvidia drivers I saw someone mention the 3.66 drivers as being thought of as "most compatible". I dropped back to them and MindRover is now working just fine. I haven't had a chance to try any of the others out yet. I see some people having great success with the newest drivers but I've been dealing with this problem since the first version of non-beta drivers. So is anyone else running into these kinds of problems? Any ideas on a fix since I know I take quite a performance hit using the 3.66 drivers? I tried the trick of using an older driver file with the 3.78 (I think) drivers but no change. I tried using powerstrip to set the AGP to 1x and that didn't make any difference either. BTW, I don't have anything but Norton AntiVirus and get right running in the background. So if any of you have any idea of a fix for this please let me know. Thanks in advance. Tim Brunson
