After doing the clean boot and following the steps I am still getting the same error message

No naughty request...I have a legit copy of both programs. It just seems that I need ont to get the other and I can seem to get either installed, hence the error message I referred to... I am just wondering how I can install the XP on my computer and fix the problem I am having. Then I can update my Norton. I am trying to do what your "option b" was...Just can't seem to get there from here...please help...

Thanks for the reply. How do I get 2000 w/o having to pay for it since I won't be keeping it for longer than a few minutes to upgrade my stuff?

Ok! I have windows ME os and i want to install winxp. i have an original cd too. the problem is when i insert it and then click to install an error message-E:\1386\WIN9XUPG\W95UPG.DLL is missing and cannot upadate. I am trying to do this so I can install my upgrade for Norton's 2006 Virus program....It tells me when I try to install it that it cannot install because I need to have Windows 200 service pack 3 or greater or a 32-bit versioun of Windows XP...when I try to get that obviously cannot get it either since I have ME and not 2000
