  1. OK then, let me get this thing started - a while ago I joined this forum when my sound card stopped working after once I updated Win XP Pro SP1 to Win XP pro SP2. I was told to simply get the latest audio drivers for my card (sounds simple) and it was, after once you guys told me what my audio card was by me just telling you what mother board I had. Well things are a bit tricky this time around. The mother board to my computer melted away and it was replaced and therefore I have a new soundcard (built into the mother board) Yet again Windows refuses to work with my audio hardware however, last time windows just said I had no sound card at all, this time It says I have a "multimedia audio controller" and it says there are no drivers for it. Well the easy solution here would be to get the newest driver right? but the thing is Windows is not telling me what make my sound card is infact everything that is listed about my card is "unknown". SO I don't know what drivers I need to fix it nor the website to find them. I also have no idea what make my mother board is as well and I have no idea how to find it out. Basically I need some sound card drivers but that's alls I can say, I can't tell you what my card is or anything.....so a little help please Well......there are a few things listed about my card in device manager and this is everything.. 1. Location of the device: PCI bus 0, device 31, function 5 2. Under device details it says this: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&SUBSYS_01028086&REV_01\3&267A616A&0&FD That's everything about my card which doesn't say "unknown" Also incase your woundering - yes windows knows theres a problem with this as the device manager displays it of having a big yellow circle over it with an excluation mark in the middle.

Win XP SP2 - no sound card detected

Basically it was like gambling by throwing dice and hopeing for a possitive outcome. And I got it Thanks alot, It really does work - I have sound again. But just one thing, My sound card worked without any updates on all other Windows XP OS, so why on WinXP SP2 did I need to upgrade? I thought that all WIn XP os would be compaible with the same stuff, oh well that's Microsoft for you.

Win XP SP2 - no sound card detected

Ok, I've downloaded the drivers but before I run the update I just want to make sure of this because I've had many problems in the past and when people say how to fix them it just makes things worse. So here is the whole story. On Windows XP pro SP2 - it doesn't display my sound card and says there is no sound card on this computer at all but windows has the standard sound drivers installed. My sound card is built into the motherboard and is definetly activated, so according to windows help system the only reason why it cant detect my sound card is if it's not compatible with windows, but you all say that with these new drivers windows will be able to recognise my sound card and I will be able to hear again? Correct? (Sorry about being a little too over cautious but many bad things have happend before by doing things very simular to what your saying now)

  6. On this computer I have a sound card which is built into the motherboard. When I had win XP home edition the sound card worked, When I had win XP Pro edition the sound card worked, But now I have win XP pro SP2 edition and windows says I have no sound card. According to the windows help thing there are 2 reason why this is. A) It's been disabled through the Bios. It's not compatible with windows. I've checked the Bios and yep it's definetly activated so does this mean that my sound card is worthless under win XP SP2? If so then I think that's just parthetic!!! It's compatible with all the other version os windows XP but not SP2, that really is crap!!!!!! Is this true or is there another way to get my sound card working which windows did mot mention?

Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate on XP - help?

So basically there is no real fix to this game on win XP. Then thats a good job I completed the whole game when I had Win 98 My problems are that on the second campaign mission or any scenario mission the game will just crash when an enemy unit moves to a certain location. The whole first mission has no problems what so ever and this includes cultists fireing their lazers. I'm usally good at getting things working, I'll try some stuff and post here if any luck. Well I've still got to try the game out on my new PC (That too has win XP)

    Another FF7 related question

I don't know if there are any other FF7 questions on here but from a quick post picked up by Google says there are but I couldn't find any through this forum search engine. Anyway, I have FF7 running on win XP, but not correctly. I cannot enter the chocobo race, if I do then I get a win XP error message which forces the game to close. Furthur more sometimes when fighting the Ruby warrior near the end of the game it can preform an attack which does the same error as the chocobo race. After looking at the game configurations under the test check section it lists an error under "8 bit textured pallet". Is this what's causinng the errors? Also sometimes when I go to save the game it'll frezze there thus meaning the game must be closed down unsaved. Is there any way to fix these problems? If not then I'll just have to resort to playing the game over on my older computer with Win 98.
