  1. The label says windows 98 2nd edition full 2-22-04
  2. Hi Zombie, I will find out where to get an isobuster on the web and try that. I also have some demo disks with different applications, maybe i will find somthing useful. The problem is accessing the disk right now, cause the music player keeps showing up now. Maybe I can change the options in explorer somehow??????
  3. Hi Guys, I tried to install a APC Battery Backup on my Dads computer. The Windows Installer asked for the Win 98SE disk,so I put one in the CD-ROM drive(CD is for another system). Then it goes in to a long process of installation(eterinity!!!!!). I think its hanging or freezing so I stop the process(Blue screen with the message the 'system is busy please let windows continue' appears sometimes). Now I try a different approach. I insert the Win 98 se disk and try to explore it but I see only a cd music player(???) with 1 music track. Needless to say it will not play(how hard are you guys laughing right now??? just thought Id ask). Aha, maybe windows cannot access the disk, which LEADS TO MY FIRST QUESTION. HOW DO I MAKE WINDOWS SEE AND EXTRACT FILES OR DATA FROM THE DISK?? As for the APC disk it does not work either, instructions point to the WIN98SE disk for basic drivers. SYSTEM SPECS:Intel Pentium II operating at 400 MHz with 192 MB of ram and Award bios( I think ) ( more precise specs later).... Question 2 should I have a shop reinstall the operating system and help me with all accesories, as I am quite new to all these different operating systems. PS, I like XP Home better!!!! But its my dads computer OK. thanks if you can help me....

RE: Graphics are scrambled upon startup

Hello Guys, sorry for the delay in repling Ive been really busy lately(considering School entry). To Peter, unmounting the speakers from the monitor has not solved the problem, however I haven't seen any more problems after booting into Windows (yeah). I can use the Monitor, until I can do some research on buying a new one. By the way, thank you to the other guy exxcessive for your help. ONE LAST THING I COULD TRY is contacting my credit card company regarding purchase protection on defective products. Repairing may not be a cost effective option at this point the only advantage of repairing may be NOT HAVING TO DUMP THE OLD MONITOR SOMEWHERE. Anyway Thank you for providing a place to seek knowledge.
  5. ;( Hi guys, my monitor displays scrambled graphics upon startup and at other times too. Usually the problem goes away as soon as the logon screen appears or "the welcome screen", however I reinstalled a game last night and the graphics were horrible. I talked to Hewlett Pacard and they tell me its 44 days out of warrenty. I substituted another monitor and it works flawlessly. So I guess my question is what are my options now, and what other crt monitors are good buys?? The monitor is a Pavilion MX703 from Hewlett Pacard (out of warranty). The video card is a PNY GeForce FX5200 (PCI slot). The computer is a Compaq presario S4210nx P4 at 2.4GHz. P.S. I tried the degauss button yesterday, which may have helped a little. oh yeah would the speakers being mounted next to the screen cause any of the problems mentioned??? You know electromagnetic fields and interference???? Thanks guys m-soloaaxx@sbcglobal.net
