    YaST translation and .pot files

Hello - I'm involved in a project in which we are customizing YaST for our special Linux environment. Part of the customization, naturally, is changing text that is displayed by various YaST modules. I've come upon .pot files in each YaST package and I understand that they are used somehow for language translation. My question is this: if our custom Linux is not going to allow for language translation, but will only support US-English, do I need to worry about changing these .pot files? If they are left "as-is", will the inline text within the code modules override the text in the.pot files? Thanks, Michael Rose

    Help on YaST y2base interface?

I'm working on a project that involves modification to YaST .ycp modules and testing via y2base looks ideal..... Except, I can't get y2base to accept the parameters I try to pass to the .ycp module. And there seems to be almost no documentation on the use of y2base: Chapter 4 of the YaST2 documentation tries to cover y2base in a single page. and it mostly uses the y2base help text. If you have y2base examples that you could share, or point to, that would be great. Or is there a book that actually details YaST development, and explains y2base usage in detail? Any help appeciated. _________________________________________ Michael G. Rose
  3. Before proceeding with my question, let it be known that I am a Linux newbie.....having spent the last 7 or 8 years in Microsoft-land (VB, ASP, ASpx, C#, etc). With a new Linux project assignment I'm getting my feet wet quickly with SuSE SLES 9. My questions are: () how does one create & build a new YaST theme? Can't seem to find any doc on this. () besides the SuSE YaST doc, what are the best sources for info on configuring and/or customizing YaST? I want YaST to appear as close to vanilla as possible (w/o SuSE graphics and text such as "SuSE", "Linux", "Novell", etc). Also I need to configure specific YaST screens so that user options listed are a subset of the defaults. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. -Michael Rose (aka Dr. StrangeDub)
