SATA Hard Disk going PIO Mode

can i just say that i used to have a geforce fx5600 256mb and my half life 2, cs source and many other high gfx games used to crash while playing. i now have a xfx geforce 6600gt 128mb card which has resolved those problems. im not sayin this is ur problem, i thought u might want to know that.

    ATI or NVIDIA

tbh both ati and nvidia hav issues depending on what card you buy, i had a geforce 5600xt 256mb and had many blue screens of death from it but i recently bought a geforce 6600gt 128mb and have had no problems with it so far. it all depends on the card if you ask me, not the manufacture

    Athlon 64 3000+ running @ 1ghz instead of 2ghz

wups i found out what it was from a friend so theres no need for all that. in the bios there is an option called "cool and quiet" and for sum reason it stops the processor running at full capability to reduced heat and reduce noise by slowin down the fan. lol, quite simple really. thanks any way
  6. I noticed 2day while playin counterstrike that my fps was hitting a low of 40fps, i didnt kno how this was possible when i hav a geforce 6600 gt so when i used cpu-z my cpu frequency was @ 1ghz instead of 2. my fsb is ok but my multiplier has dropped from x10 to x5. i dont kno what to do, i have changed the cpu ratio in the bios to 10 and still the same. is it broke or wot do i need to do?
  7. can any 1 help me with overclocking my cpu. i have an athlon 64 3000+ (newcastle core) and 2 sticks of 512mb ddr 400. i kno my motherboard supports overclocking and so far i have got my processor which usually rins at 2ghz to 2.3ghz, when i attempt to go to 2.4ghz it blue screens or restarts. i dont think temperature is an issue here as the temp doesnt seem to increase above 40 degrees so i tryed increasing the voltage some more. i currently have it on 1.6 so i increased to to 1.65 then to 1.7 and still it crashed. any ideas? im new to ocing and im probably doin something daft. ive checked out other sites and others have said that they can be clocked over 2.4ghz. thanks

    Windows 64bit Install

i think its because u hav a sata hard drive, when the install program for windows is loading it says at the bottom press a f something to install a third party raid or scsi. i think, well this is what i have heard, u need to select that and use a floppy that should of came with ur motherboard to install the SATA controllers. i think i have no idea i read it in another post earlier and thought it might help.

BLUE SREEN OF DEATH UNDER SP2

yea thats the message i get and i think i will take your advise and purchase some new ram. i think that installing sp2 pushes the system just that little bit further resulting in the blue screen showing up more often than it does with my other o/s. any way i will wait until my new video card arrives and if i am still getting the same problem ill get some new ram asap. also i will try memtest and see what i get from that. thanks for your help i am very greatful.
