    Upgrading MoBo

I am looking to upgrade my system...I was looking at the ASUS K8V SE Deluxe with a Athlon 64 3000+. I was wondering if anyone has this board or has "hands on" experience with it that could let me know how the good and bad about it.

Enable 5.1 sound in Win XP w. Creative Soundblaster

I have that same set up... For some reason, XP (home) wouldn't turn on my other speakers either. I had to go to www.soundblaster.com and download the newest drivers for my 5.1 live card...durring the set up you should be able to set it for the 5.1 speakers.

    Networking ME on XP network

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!! Something in ME actually works!!! After several hours, probably 20 cables, each port on the router, and through 8 diferent NIC's, it works.... At first I thought that the first NIC may be bad as well, but it does work in one of my other machines....how ever...finaly after installing the 8th one...it works...the only thing I can think of is an in compatability with the board...but that leaves me wondering as to how I was able to load them in windows...drivers and all. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!! I'm still S@#T canning ME though!!!!

    Networking ME on XP network

Im not a fan of ME either...this is only the 2nd time Ive run it....the first being just like Alec§taar...only for about 1/2 hour...I didnt like it then...and I certianly dont like it now!!! I think you guys have talked me into slapping 2000 on it...but my question on that is, probably a stupid one...but...Have they gotten USB support for it yet? I remember when it first came out...at work we had to put all those USB/PS2 adapters on all of our mice and keyboards and all ... Also, I was able to get to my machine at lunch...ipconfig /all came up with 0.0.0.0 for everything. I tried ipconfig /release then renew...came back with DHCP server unavailable. Here is my ipconfig /all from one of the working XP machines: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Networking ME on XP network

I wasn't sure about the wireless support either...but I was hoping it wouldn't matter since its hard wired into the router. The machine will do the loopback with no problems, but will not ping the router or any other machine on the network. I have tried hard coding the IP and DNS settings that the router has but, still same crap. I have not tried setting them to Cox's settings though...I will try that when I get off work this afternoon. I will also run ipconfig /all on the ME machine, and a working XP machine, and post them here if that might help. I would love to just put XP on this box...but its only a meager AMD 350 on a old MSI MS-5169 with 512mb ram and a 14GB ATA 33 HD. I actually did try loading it...but once the file copying starts...all hell breaks loose! Once again...thanks for the responses!!!

    Networking ME on XP network

Thanks for the quick responce...but no, there is no spyware loaded..this is a brand new clean load of ME...Well at least as clean as ME can be...nor is it recieving an IP...it will not see the router what so ever. I've tried different cables, and different NIC's, I also unpluged one of the XP machines and put the ME machine on that "known working" port, but it still only gives me link light on card and router, and no internet. Thanks again!!

    Networking ME on XP network

This is my first post here, and I will start by saying I have little knowledge of networking...I know just enough to be dangerous!!! I am having problems connecting a WinME machine to my network. I have 3 WinXP Home machines runing on it with no problems. I am using Cox Cable HSI, Motorola SB5100 Cable modem, and a microsoft MN-700 router w/integrated 802.11g access point. I am trying to connect the ME box via cable...just like two of the XP home machines...the only wireless machine is my laptop... The router is set up as a DHCP server, and all XP machines accept this and work great...but no matter what settings I put into the ME machine...always the same problem...page can not be displayed, check DNS. I would just remove ME and load XP, but the machine won't load it...too old and slow. I was thinking of going to Win2k but thats one OS i know absolutly nothing about! Any help will be greatly appreciated.
