    Linux version for me

sounds like suse could be your choice, it has lots of windows-like behaviour for beginners , it is easy to install and it has its own 64bit install cd/dvd - try it out

    Dual boot with raid system

as far as i know (and experienced) you have to partition your raid - hdd`s into at least two partitions. one for windass and one for linux ( - / ) suse will install a boot-loader, but i don`t know if it will recognize yours on the raid, so install it, but not into the mbr (master-boot-record) it will ask you so , during installation. you have to find out yourself if suse-installation-wizzard will read your raid propperly, some do, some don`t. if it says something like: unknown or unreadable partition-table, then you better stay away from it. install linux on your IDE-hd - better anyway. and keep win on the raid. by the way, to partition the raid hdd`s it`s best to do it before a win.-install, using the win-cd. partition magic can sometimes drive you crazy. the whole thing is not very common, so messing with raid is always a challange ............. cheeeers

help ! boot floppy won`t work

ok, found the rawrite to copy that iso to a disk, and found the rh- how-to. still has to sort out my burner-problems.. cheers
  5. tryed to install from hdd, after at least ten wasted cd`s. md5 is correct, speed is ok, read some how-to`s , tried cdrwin5/nero6/winoncd and firebuster .. no luck - dll and check md5 again, burned again, no one of three machines would accept a single cd (mandrake, debian, gentoo, rh, jamd .... you name it) then went to make a boot-floppy by taking the hdd.instll.iso - file from rh9. the iso is 1.41mb but won`t match on a 1.44mb floppy, wtf?`??? can someone tell me what exactly i need to do to make such a floppy, cause i cannot copy it on a cdrw to boot from, my cd-burner is just not able to.l................ thanx

    grub, -- again

hy, i tried to install rh, suse and knoppix on my laptop. went fine but after conf. grub in redhat, i messed something up. it would ask me to insert a disk and copy grub to it, there was no way to copy it to hdd. now, i have this startdisk, from wich i am able to start redhat and suse, i will have to add knoppix to it and copy it back to where it belongs. (when i start the box without disk , it would give me a black screen and a _ ) my setup is: hda1 - home for all three distros hda2 - / redhat hda5 - / knoppix hda6 - / suse hda7 - swap for all three can someone help me to get that fixed? thanx
