    lilo boot probs

k i've put linux on an old p100 for use as a cheap webserver. Anyways, i put mandrake 9 on and when it boots it goes to load lilo(bootloader) and it just displays a crap load of the number 40. then crashes the computer. I'm able to get it boot with a bootdisk however its pretty slow when off the disk. anyways, anyone have any ideas how to fix this or even just have it boot linux directly with no bootloader? And yes i know its a slow comp to begin with, but why make it any slower right?

    restarting network service

don't know if that subject is appropriate for what i am asking but i'm not THAT linux fluent. Anyways i was wondering, i have my computer set to obtain an ip automatically at boot, didn't set any static thing. So for example say i boot and i don't have the ehternet plugged in, eventually that boot process times out and it continues booting and i don't get an ip from my router.. so i was wondering, once it boots and then i plug in the ethernet, is there a way to get the ip process to restart and get an ip?
  7. actually last time i checked you don't have to be root to run it. ./NVchooser.sh works fine for me.
