Promise Ultra133TX2 controller and WinXP Pro?

Got it fixed =) Had to detatch all drives from the controllercard to get the drivers installed? Strange error I would have to say, but it worked. /Roger
  2. Hi there ... First of my config: Code: Asus P4T533-C I850e motherboard2xSamsung 256MB 1000MHz memoryPentium 4 2,53GHz2x Quantum 30GB disks onboard controller Master/Slave first channelTDK burner and Samsung DVD onboard controller Master/Slave second channelIBM Deskstar 120GB on Promise Ultra133 TX2 Master first channelIBM Deskstar 60GB on Promise Ultra133 TX2 Slave first channelSoundblaster Live 512 GamerAdaptec AHA-2940UW with external scanner(overkill, I know =)) OK, my problem is this. I cant get the damn Promise controller installed. As soon as I try to install the drivers, XP reboots in the middle of the copy of the drivers, I get a chkdsk, and when XP boots again, It does a plug'n'play on the controller again and wants me do give it the drivers(again). So, the last two days, Ive been trying what I think is everything, I've reinstalled(at least 5-6 times), tried Win2K and YES, in Win2K it works? And in linux(Gentoo Linux v1.4 rc2). So, what is it with XP? Ive tried to move the card around in the PCI slots without any luck, set IRQ's hard in BIOS and tried to add the controller drives directly in the beginning of the XP installation (F6). I then get a BSOD. The funny thing is, that when I got the Promise card I allready had XP installed, and that time I just inserted the card, installed the drivers and everything worked. Since then the XP installation has crashed, and perhaps becoz of the Promise card, I dont know. So, anybody got any thought of this? Tomorrow I will try to pull the Promise card, install XP without it, then insert it and see if it works that way. /Roger
