  2. Today my Outlook Express decided to screw up. I can no longer read the text of email. I can recieve them, but when I click on them to read them, I can't see anything in the message body. This goes for just recieved emails as well as old stored emails as well. Can someone help me out? Thanks.
  3. I have heard/read that installing XP on a SCSI hard drive will be slower than if you installed it on an IDE drive, the site belows says approx 50% slower. This doesn't seem to make sense. Anyway I wondering if this is true. Here is the site that says this: http://scsi.radified.com/ Thanks in advance.

Thinking of upgrading to 9800 Pro...

Thanks for the quick reply, Most of the games I play are pretty fast paced, Unreal Tournament 2003, Serious Sam 2, Midnight Club. I think I have decided to wait however until the price drops a bit more. I will probably decide to get it once Half Life 2 comes out, which could be a while and price will most likely drop by then. Thanks for the help.
  5. Is this possible? I have an ASUS Geforce4 Ti4200 8X with Analog and DVI, does this make it possible to extend my desktop onto a second monitor? If so, how do I do it? Thanks. BTW, I have an LCD plugged into the DVI and want to hook my CRT monitor to the analog output. -lutikri55

Thinking of upgrading to 9800 Pro...

I'm considering upgrading to a ATI 9800 Pro 128MB. My question is, would I see a big difference from my current card, a Geforce3 64MB, to make it worth 300 bucks? Recommendations, comments, just post em -lutikri55

I need a list of Video Cards...

Well first off go here: Toms VGA Charts PI http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20021218/index.html and then here: Toms VGA Charts PII http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030120/index.html And secondly there exists no Geforce3 MX only GF3 normal and GF3 TI. Third, I would say the GF2 GTS is probably better than the Radeon 7000. Fourthly, If you are a gamer and want to upgrade, get a modern card. GF2 and Radeon 7xxx are becoming ancient relics.
  8. Ok, my Dad wants the best and most powerlful dual head video card available. Can someone tell me which is the best one or give some recommendations?

    Nox

It seems to work ok for me. The problem you are having is odd. I'm not sure what to do.

    Monitor help, please

I tried pluging the power strip into a completely different plug altogether in my room and it seems that the voltages are now stable. Could this have been the problem? The motherboard and the power supply are less than 3 months old. Do you think the problem is fixed? Or maybe just temporarily fixed? Thanks. Also, do you think anything is damaged, it seems ok, I'm just checking to make sure. Here's what ASUS Probe voltages say: +12V -> 12.416 +5V -> 4.972 +3.3V -> 3.28 VCORE -> 1.776 The kind of fluctuate slightly, like 12V will go to 12.48 sometimes and 3.3V will go to 3.264 sometimes. Are these slight fluctuations normal? Thanks. -gilgamesh

    Monitor help, please

Actually I just found out that the problem is not the monitor. I have checked ASUS Probe and my +12V voltage is not stable. It moves up and down between 12.3 and 10.5, eventually leading to a lock up. I don't know what I should do to fix this. Any ideas? I have done no overclocking or changed an BIOS settings. It just started doing this for no apparent reason. Thanks. -gilgamesh

    Monitor help, please

My problem is my (crappy) VS17X Dell Monitor. Last night, I first noticed the problem. I left my computer for 20 minutes and came back and it was as if the monitor had gone into power saving mode, which I have turned off. The normally green light was now the blinking amber color it has when going into power save mode. However, I would move the mouse around and push keys but it would not wake up. So I was forced to hard reset. It booted up fine and worked for the rest of the night. I turned it on this morning and it booted fine. I left it on while I was at work for five hours. Then I came back and it was just like it was last night. I couldn't get it back on. So I hard reset but now I can't even get into Windows. It starts the Windows XP boot screen and then goes into the seemingly power saving mode again. It is erratic however, sometimes I don't even get that far. Is this the monitor or something else? Oh yea, please note the computer fans and hard drive are running and it seems as if the computer is going through booting regularly. Please help, thanks. -gilgamesh

Pixel Shader Problem (two cards so far)

I have this same sort of problem in Morrowind with my Geforce3. It seems like it takes a while for the pixel shaded water to update itself for some reason. However, this is not that big of a problem, i think it is more the game rather than the video card.

    Earthworm Jim Special Edition

I have a problem running this game on Windows XP. The game runs fine but the sound is the problem. There is no sound and all the sound settings in the game are greyed out. I have tried different compatibility layers but to no avail. Has anyone gotten this game to work? Thanks for any help in advance. -gilgamesh
