Self-organising small cell backhaul pioneer CCS CE marks its system

Recommended Posts

Cambridge, UK, 11th February 2014: CCS (Cambridge Communication Systems Limited), the developer of the world’s first self-organising small cell microwave backhaul system for mobile networks, today announces R&TTE (Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment) compliance of its solution.

CCS’s pioneering self-organising small cell backhaul system has been successfully tested for compliance to ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) standards and is CE-marked for commercial sale. The system is now in commercial pilots with major mobile network operators worldwide. CCS will be showcasing its solution at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona (24 to 27 February, Fira Gran Via).

CCS’s innovative system offers mobile network operators the only backhaul solution that meets all key requirements for reliability, high capacity and low latency, coupled with rapid deployment and simple, low-cost operation. The system comprises a small outdoor unit with integrated power that performs all network functions. Self-organising, self-healing links automatically reconfigure themselves to optimise performance across a resilient, multipoint-to-multipoint topology. Easy to scale, with no radio planning or alignment required, CCS’s self-organising, flexible microwave system delivers the lowest TCO (total cost of ownership) of any small cell backhaul technology.

Commenting on today’s announcement, CCS Co-Founder and CEO Steve Greaves said: “This is a major milestone for our solution, which has proven its maturity and technical readiness for phased commercial deployment in mobile networks across the globe.†He added: “Our system uniquely combines high capacity, low latency and self-organisation with microwave transmission, enabling mobile operators to address the mobile data explosion whilst meeting traffic requirements with significantly reduced CAPEX and OPEX – both now and in the future. We’re very excited about delivering this solution to more operators worldwide as our commercial engagements progress throughout this year.â€
