You want a Linux Distro that supports Opteron 64bit?
Gentoo have itianium/64 support.
Is there a compiler available for Opteron you can use?

hey man , why don't u try RedHat Enterrpise Linux (RHEL) 3.0 AS/WS, works for itanium and amd 64 platforms ... more info here : http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/comparison/
