Media Player DLL Errors

Ugh, First off i had Windows ME on my system with the latest beta of wmp 7, which i then upgraded the OS to w2k. Everything went smoothly except wmp7 always gave me the dll error "The application or DLL c:\windows\system32\msdmo.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." so i figured it was a regular beta screwup. Last night i downloaded the final release and i get the same problem... I have uninstalled and reinstalled many many times.. but i get the same result. I even tried using the msdmo.dll from my laptop which runs wmp7 fine.. and still get the same damn error... help me please,
