It is darn ugly, I will give you that. I also seem to have run into problems with image quality when scaling AVIs under some codes (Indeo). These same AVIs played and scaled flawlessly under the previous rev of media player.

It also suffers the same "I have two windows, and they are both problems to work with" interface stupidity that caused me to move from Quicktime to Media Player in the first place.

All I want to do is click once on an AVI, have the animation start up, then press the maximize button to go full screen. Is that too much to ask? It was of Quicktime, and now the new Media Player has the same problem. You can maximize the window just fine, but now the animation stays the same size. You have to go into the menus and manually select full screen/double, what have you...grrr...

I also don't want rows of hype/marketing gadgets along all sides of the window...

Aah...betas...

:}

PS Oh, and try and turn off the windows media auto-updater from running all the time in your task bar. You can't, without deleting the item from the registry.

I really like it. It has a lot of "potential" Remember it is BETA so it will have problems but I haven't ran into any that effect me. This doesn't mean it won't effect the next person.

One revision...if you select "size with window" in the menu, the player keeps that setting until you change it again. For me, that is perfect, so I can scale the window (even maximize it) and it works fine. So, here is one of my gripes that was in error.

i don't know if anyone else has had this problem but i found media player to take ages to load up files. For example i've got some simpson sound clips and on winamp they load instantly and on media player 6.4 but with the version7 they take about 20secs to load up.
apart from long load times it seems to fine to me

Well, I installed, had a look, uninstalled, then formatted.!!

For some reason, uninstalling took out IE and outlook express. IE Would not allow me to press any form of submit button, without it freezing and OE too 2 mins to actually startup!

I read there might be probs uninstalling, but I had to do it, this prog SUCKS!

Hmmm, okay, i installed it, and after reading Eks's post....should i even attempt to remove it?? It IS about the worst media player of all time, the on that was bundled with Win95a was better than this!

Not that I know of, BUT the original mplayer2.exe (or similar) is still around and working. I'd just remove the links and such for now, untill a reliable version comes along.
