running win2k pro, sp1, dx8. whenever i try to play a game the computer just locks up, i run dxdiag, it freezes also, i reset the computer and re-run dxdiag, it tells me that there may have been a problem with DirectDraw last time i ran dxdiag, it asks me if i want to bypass it, if i choose NO, then it freezes, if i choose YES it works fine, i cannot play any games, i.e. Half-Life, Quake III, etc. I've reinstalled DX8 at least 10 times with no success, it says there's no problems but i disagree. I'm using a GeForce 2 MX with the 7.17 det. drivers.

you never realize how nice it is to have everything in working order until your computer has a problem.
