Hi Everyone! I'm new here and have a question for you. I'm currently running Windows 2000 sp1. When I run UT it plays fine until I exit, then I get a message saying UT has caused an error while exiting. Has anyone ever seen this before and if so can you HELP me!?
Thanks!

System: 650 Athlon
128 ram
hercules GeForce ddr-dvi
driver 6.31
UT patch 632

It does that to me on occasion. I still haven't nailed down the cause, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the system too much. It's done it with every driver release (I have a GeForce) and with every patch to UT. I even upgraded to DX8 without solving it. I've settled on just living with it, but if someone else knows how to fix it, I'd love to know.

I reinstalled the latest miniport driver, and the latest UT patch. I am using the latest ref. drivers from nvidia 6.31 I think. The Error is still there. What do you mean by "WQL off"? Thanks again for the help!

Crewdawg
WHQL means that the drivers are microsoft hardware certified.
6.31 is from nvidia.com. 6.34 are the same drivers, but with microsoft ceritification.

I am running the 6.34 drivers; it's the best one right now.

6.34 are the same as 6.31 but with WHQL certification? If that's the case, in my experience currently 6.47 is the fastest driver set for the GeForce. I jumped by nearly 5 fps in UT with it. Q3A hasn't changed at all with any driver set since 6.18, but it's fast enough for me anyway, so I won't complain.

Anyway, back to the first question, I'm running on a P3, so I don't think the error on exit is an AMD issue. It only happens to me in Win2k, but it's happened pretty much since I first installed it, so I just assumed it was a problem with the OS itself. Anybody have any other suggestions? I'm just going to live with it otherwise, since it doesn't seem to be affecting anything seriously. smile

Hello,

I also find 6.47 drivers with DirectX 8.00 final to be the best: Starlancer plays OK.

Since you have a Geforce graphics card, try the following registry hack:

Did you try the new OpenGL driver for high detail textures in UT, found here:
