Hi, when I tried to run a few D3D games on W2k platform, the screen goes blank. I can still hear the music, but there's nothing displaying.

In DXDIAG, I saw that Direct3D is disabled. The option to enable it isn't available.

Can anyone help?

More information is always better. For instance: What video card, version of driver, resolution of choice, refresh rate, game in question ...etc.

Without information, I for one cannot help. Psychic I am not.

hi, i have a ViperII video card, 1024x768 16bpp, 75Hz, all D3D games fail. Only OpenGL works, such as Half Life, Q3, Elite Force. i got the driver from nVidia last week. it should be the latest.

I'm not much into video cards myself, but isn't ViperII a Diamond Multimedia product? Shouldn't he be using Diamond drivers on that, and not nVidia?

Actually the Viper II according to Diamond is using the S3 Savage 2000 chipset. Most of the reading I have done regarding that card has not been very encouraging.

How to fix the problem of a blank screen? Agreeing with jdulmage, I would start by looking for correct drivers for the card chipset. Most likely these will be available only from Diamond, possibly from S3 unless they are all on the Diamond site. www.diamondmm.com
