Win2K Compatibility Update

I have a question :
What the use of the Win2K Compatibility update ?
These games are in the list but
they still don't work :

- The October 2000 package :
Legacy of Kain : Soul Reaver
Southpark

- Before :
Powerslide (Don't work in D3D)
House of dead

I try all games patchs
If anyone has an idea !!!

Have you tried the latest video card drivers for your machine? Those application compatibility fixes just fix problems between the program and Windows 2000. They don't actually fix the game. They mostly just "lie" to the program to get it to run.
