But, my desktop a Sony Vaio (PCV-RX660) the installion was a breeze without any complication :), so people with this desktop feel free to use this OS. Even the DSL (Zyxel Prestige) modem was accepted by Mandrake.

I had tried everything, and I cant set-up my Presario 3000 (3017CL) with Mandrake 9.1, I still got problems with the modem, and networking hardware.
I think that I had to wait a little longer for newer Mandrake copies to try again.

My Mandrake 9.1 nightmare ended only when I re-installed 9.0! I just got through trying 9.2. I realize it is still beta, but there are many problems I ran into with 9.1 that were stll there in 9.2. Mandrake 9.0 in my opinion was a truely great release of Linux, and I still run it on three boxes at work. At home though, I've switched to Red Hat 9.0.

I concur.
Mandrake 9.1 is a nightmare buggy as hell.
9.0 was far better. Have since moved on to gentoo...
