I am having trouble running Final Fantasy VII under Windows 2000 SP1. Several people on NT Compatible games compatibilty page say it works fine, but it just won't work for me. The game crashes after the first battle, or after the second time the screen "changes", e.g. if I enter a town, then enter a bulding the game will crash; if I enter a battle the game works, but when the screen changes again to show experience the game crashes. I am using a Pentium III 500, 384MB PC100 RAM, Diamond Viper V550 w/ nVIDIA Detonator Drivers 5.32 + Lates BIOS upgrade, Sound Blaster Live! Value w/ LiveWare 3.0, Abit BE6 Mainboard w/ lates BIOS upgrade, DirectX 8.0 Beta (4.08.00.0073). Any help would be apreciated. E-mail me at icsm@winmicrosystems.com, ICQ me at 15696891.

mine always did that under win2k. i havent tried sp1 yet and i dont think i will. it seems there are alot of problems with half-life among other things. and i dont really want to deal with it if i dont have to.

only solution i found was dual booting 98.

Did you try software renderer? Riva TNT direct 3d mode was buggy in windows 98, and still is under windows 2000. I have the same problems like you, and the only fix is use software mode.
