Hey, I just got my new Athlon 800 mhz and i installed NFS 5 again after I formatted for the switch from a PII to the Athlon and now it will get past the cd check and get to the loading screen and hang up. The harddrive is working overtime, but the game isnt going anywhere. It worked fine on my PII 350, but it doesnt seem to anymore. I've been reading on this board a bit and this sounds like the 800 meg memory problem, but i never saw how to fix it. I havent had a chance to try deleting gimmie.dll yet, but some other suggestions would be appreciated as well so I can try alot of things at once. Thanks!!
Btw, my system specs are:
Amd Athlon 800 Mhz
Soyo K7VIA MB
256 MB PC133 SDRAM
Diamond Viper V770 32mb (TNT2 Ultra)

Well, i tried deleting gimmie.dll and that didnt change anything. I also set the maximum page file size to double my system ram. Still didnt help..Maybe a problem with the nvidia 5.30 drivers?

hehe. i found out that the fix was even easier than that. I had formatted and forgot to download the compatibility fix for win2k from microsoft's website. That little 300k patch fixed the problem :-)
