Need For Speed: High Stakes, Win2000

I was getting the "This program only runs under Win 9x" error when I went to install under W2K Pro. As fate would have it, as soon as I found the fix for this on www.ntcompatible.com, I immediately ran the installation, but I suddenly got an application error, and I haven't been able to get the old error ever since. Electronic Arts does not support this operating system and I'm getting REALLY frustarted. HELP!!!!
