Quake 2 and multiplayer

This isn't too much of a problem but can be an extreme annoyance. When I run Q2, it opens up nice, and everything runs smoothly. the problem occurs when I tell Q2 to go into multiplayer. I tell Q2 to search for servers, then a big fat error comes up "Error: Net_GetPacket: WSAECONNRESET from (the server i try to connect to) i don't understand why this happens...i get ask Q2 to look for servers again... and it will do the same thing... but when i ask it to search for the third time, it works fine... what's wrong?

Thats the same error you get with running Half Life servers too... something to do with the quake2 networking code or what not. Valve is fixing this in their next patch but of course ID isn't patching Q2 anymore so I suggest Gamespy instead.
