Memory could not be "read" error in many games

I have gotten the error "The memory could not be 'read'" in many games. The games are:
NHL 2K
Madden 2K
Sim Theme Park
Final Fantasy 7 (crashes to desktop)
Driver: You are the wheel man
Supreme Snowboarding

Does anyone know how to clear the error or what could be causing the error?

I am running W2k Pro on this system
128 ram
8 gigs hd
pentium 3 600mhz
diamond viper 770 non ultra
Turtle beach montego 2

any suggestions?
