Any success with GTA2 on Win2000?

Has anyone been able to get the full version GTA2 to work on Win2000? I have a monster fusion (banshee chipset) with the glide and d3d working, however GTA2 still crashes out without an error message. The demo works with no changes... I have tried the registry changes reccomended on this site but it makes no diffrence, it still crashes once gta2.exe is executed, gta2 manager works completly.

Any help would be appreciated,
