i assume your talking about Swedish touring car championship. a game like that was written by Digital Illusions i beleive, they were originally Demo coders. Therefore they play on the custom design features of Win9x and DX to squeeze out everything they can.

You will most likely find that games like that wont work without a patch.

Games programmers who write games such as UT or Quake3 are very clean with their code. As they know that they are going to port it to other OSes, which means it works with Win2K without too much of a problem.
